Proteus takes its name from the shape-shifting god of the sea. Protean means able to change form, to adapt, to transform. It is how the best companies behave, and it is how entire industries are about to be remade.
We invest in founders building where software finally meets the physical world. The places where code reaches construction sites, supply chains, energy grids, clinics, factories, and field crews. For decades, technology reshaped media, advertising, and software itself while the real economy that builds, moves, powers, and maintains the world was left largely untouched. That era is ending.
Proteus is run by operators, not spectators. We have built companies, shipped products, raised capital, and lived the work our founders are doing. We partner early, and we partner deeply.
Investment Thesis
The first wave of technology digitized information. Search, social, media, and pure software captured enormous value by moving bits across a screen. But the largest sectors of the economy, the ones that build, move, power, feed, and heal, run on atoms. Construction, logistics, energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and agriculture make up the majority of global output and remain among the least digitized industries on earth.
